Multi-Path on Server 2012 R2

multi path on server 2012 r2

In Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2, we can use “Storage Explorer” to locate World Wide Name (WWN). Started from Windows Server 2012, “Storage Explorer” was removed. To find WWN in Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2, we can use PowerShell to perform “Get-InitiatorPort“.
Once you have done your Zoning on your SAN Switches, you have to ensure that you install the Feature for Mutlipath on Windows 2012 R2
Steps:
1. Server manager
2. Add roles and features
3. Follow the wizard till you get to Features
4.Select Mulitpath I/O
5. Now install
6. Restart once completed
At this stage you not done, yet. Once the server has rebooted. Log back in and open Control Panel. The next step is to add the Discovery Multi-Paths so Disk Manger sees it as one disk instead of the disk per path.
